Susmita Mohanty is a nonresident scholar at Carnegie India. She is a space diplomat and entrepreneur extraordinaire. She is the director general of Spaceport SARABHAI, a ‘space’ think tank. She has co-founded space companies on three different continents: MOONFRONT (San Francisco), LIQUIFER (Vienna), and EARTH2ORBIT (Bangalore). In a career spanning 25 years, Susmita has worked with the Americans, Japanese, Europeans, Russians, and Indians in various capacities. She is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council for Space Technologies. In 2019, she was selected as one of BBC’s 100 women laureates who inspire and influence a female-led future. Educated in India, France, and Sweden, she has multiple degrees, including a PhD.
